Applications open for 2021 student scholarships, fellowships

2021 ASA, CSSA, and SSSA student scholarship and fellowship applications are open for nominations. The following are our graduate and undergraduate award offerings. Additional travel scholarships and division awards also open later in the year, so be watching for those details in the News Flash email and on the Society Discussion Boards.
Graduate Scholarships and Fellowships
Scholarship applications must be initiated by 17 March with submissions due 24 March—consult the websites for details: www.agronomy.org/awards, www.crops.org/awards, and www.soils.org/awards.
- Clark Soil Biology Graduate Student Scholarship—One scholarship at $3,000.
- Crop Science Graduate Student Scholarship—Two scholarships at $2,000.
- Frank D. Keim Graduate Fellowship—for undergraduate student recipients of the 2021 National Student Recognition Program pursuing a graduate degree. Two scholarships at $2,000.
- Gary “Pete” Peterson Dryland Soil Management Scholarship—One scholarship at $5,000.
- Nelson Yield-Limiting Factors Graduate Student Scholarship—Five scholarships at $3,000.
- Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship—One scholarship at $3,500 and $500 to the student’s adviser.
Undergraduate Scholarships and Fellowships

J. Fielding Reed Scholarship—for students pursuing a career in soil or plant sciences: two scholarships at $2,000.
Hubert J. Byrd Sr. Scholarship—for undergraduate students pursuing careers as professional consulting soil scientists: two scholarships at $2,500.
Frank D. Keim Graduate Fellowship—for undergraduate student recipients of the 2021 National Student Recognition Program pursuing a graduate degree: two scholarships at $2,000.
Soil and Water Conservation Scholarship—one scholarship at $3,500 and $500 to the student’s adviser.
Dellavalle Soil Science Scholarship—one award at $5,000 (high school student).
Golden Opportunity Institute—This professional development program pairs talented undergraduate students with mentors to help cultivate networks to develop the necessary workforce to sustain the agronomy, crops, and soils professions. Selected students will receive financial support for costs related to attending the 2021 Annual Meeting in Salt Lake City, UT. Up to 25 Golden Opportunity Scholars and five Greenfield Scholars will be selected in 2021.
