Traveling to Portland

Portland International Airport (PDX) is the main airport for Portland.

Amtrak and Greyhound offer rail and motorcoach service to Portland from virtually anywhere on the continent.

Here's a comprehensive visitors guide with information to maximize your time in Portland.

Traveling to the United States

All travelers to the United States must hold a passport that is valid six months longer than the intended visit. Most travelers also require a visa. Find information on obtaining a U.S. visa, the visa waiver program for travelers from selected countries, and more here.

If you require a visa, please recognize that the visa application process may take several months or more. An interview appointment is required for a visa application at all embassies and consulates. The wait time for this appointment varies, but may be as long as three months or more, with processing taking an additional month or more. The wait time for visa applications is available on the State Department's Website. You should begin this process as soon as you make the decision to attend the Annual Meeting. You can print your own letter of intended participation to accompany your visa application.

The International Visitors Office (IVO) assists international students, scholars, and other travelers who are coming to the United States for scientific purposes.
