Inside this issue

Dear members: We begin this new year with a freshening up of our print magazine design. Over the last several months, staff has been working with our partners at Wiley to tweak the design a bit to enhance the readability of the magazine and improve the reader experience. Let me know what you think of the new look or any of the content at Send Message!
In this issue, we begin another “Assessing Soil Health” series. Increasing soil organic carbon (SOC) is a co-benefit to improving soil health, and there are many emerging opportunities to directly monetize this benefit. Many of you may have been thinking about the opportunities and how your business model may fit into these markets. This article provides a brief and practical review about measuring SOC, especially SOC stock.
The magazine’s website, https://acsess.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/journal/23253606, will soon have all of the articles from both “Assessing Soil Health” series in one location, so be sure to check that out. While many of our readers prefer to read the print magazine, please note that new articles are posted to the website each month. Content is organized by issue, CEU category (if applicable), and region. If you click “Get Content Alerts” from the homepage, you can receive the latest content as soon as it posts online.
Also in this issue, we highlight Adam Kramer of Patch Grove, WI, as this year’s recipient of the CCA Conservationist of the Year Award. The award annually recognizes a CCA who exhibits dedication to exceptional conservation delivery and customer service and has shown to be a leader in their industry.
Speaking of awards, the American Society of Agronomy, Crop Science Society of America, and Soil Science Society of America are accepting applications for their 2021 Awards Program, which honors researchers, educators, professionals, and students. Nominations open January 6, so consider nominating someone or applying for one of our dozens of scholarships, awards, and Fellows. We encourage nominations to promote our diversity initiatives. See agronomy.org/awards, crops.org/awards, and soils.org/awards.
Here’s to a healthy, happy, productive, and safe 2022!
