The Collegiate Crops Team from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville (UW-Platteville) secured first place overall at the Regional Collegiate Crops Judging Contest held on the UW-Platteville campus on October 18. In individual competition (l to r), Sydney Rider (University of Wisconsin–Platteville) finished first followed by Alexa Blume and Evan Olson (both from South Dakota State University). The team, consisting of Marissa Folkers, Sydney Rider, and Delaney Salm, achieved first place in the overall team competition while Sydney Rider placed first in the individual competition. South Dakota State University placed second in both team and individual competition.Participants from UW-Platteville also included Ava Armstrong, Tyce Bettenhausen, Payton Bunger, Faith Hull, Sam Martin, Norah Mungle, Isaac Ward, and Kurt Zimmerman. The team is led by Dawn Lee, the Manager of Pioneer Greenhouse and Gardens, who is also a Lecturer in the School of Agriculture.The Regional Collegiate Crops Judging Contest consists of three components: plant and seed identification, commercial grain grading, and seed analysis.For more information about the UW-Platteville Collegiate Crops Team, contact Dawn Lee.
