News and Notes

Inside This Issue
I’d like to draw your attention to three articles this issue. Two of our Features this month are articles based on research published in a special virtual issue on climate change (https://bit.ly/climate‐change‐issue) that features a wide range of research from across the Societies’ journals. Second, we have a very timely Members Forum article on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI). Where are we at with the technology, and how might it affect you?
Miller Receives JB Jones Award

Congratulations to ASA and SSSA member Dr. Robert O. Miller is a former professor at the University California–Davis and is the Director of the Agricultural Laboratory Proficiency Program. He was recognized for his research and education efforts in soil fertility and plant analysis and his integral work in establishing four international laboratory analysis proficiency programs in soil, plant, manure, compost, and geo‐tech materials in North America.
Erratum
We wish to report an error in the April issue of CSA News magazine, in the article, “Crushing It: Can Ground‐Up Rock Help Save the Earth?” On page 10, the caption for the top right photo read in part, “When this dilute acid hits the ground, the CO₂ interacts with crushed basalt rock that has been spread on the ground, mineralizes, and is safely stored as solid bicarbonate ions for upwards of 100,000 years.” Because bicarbonate ions are not solids and their length of life is unknown, the back half of the sentence should have read, “…and is safely stored for many years.” We regret the error.
