Calling All ASA, SSSA Educators

Going to the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Annual Meeting in St. Louis? Do you EDUCATE others about your discipline? Come learn about approaches others are using!

The SSSA Education and Outreach Division and the ASA K–16 Education and Outreach Community have put together an ambitious list of sessions for the 2023 Annual Meetings in St. Louis!

Beyond the general sessions offered by each, organizers have collaborated on an “Open Education” series—to align with this year's conference theme. This includes Open Educational Resources, High Impact Assignments, and Educational Approaches that Lead to Student‐Created Open‐Licensed Products. Both groups are also co‐sponsoring the Open Science, Open Art event as well as several other cross‐division/community symposia.

See the online program (acsmeetings.org) to view the complete set of sessions related to education and outreach in agronomy and soils. For those of you involved in classroom teaching, the following sessions may be of particular interest: 

• Instructional Resources in Teaching Science (Poster)
• Opportunities for Agronomists and K–16 Collaborations in Creating High Quality Instructional Materials (Oral)
• Agronomy Phenomena in Teaching Science in K–12 (Oral)
• Using Music and Other Art in Soils Education and Outreach (five‐minute oral + poster)

Finally—a special “shout out” for two symposia with an art and/or music focus. These should be fun! 

• Cross‐divisional symposium: Art + Artesols
• Cross‐divisional music performance symposium: Music About, For, and From Soils.
