Learn more about publishing by attending these Annual Meeting sessions

The Publications Department, with the cooperation of the journal editors and editorial boards, is presenting several sessions at the ASA, CSSA, and SSSA 2022 Annual Meeting in Baltimore this November. The sessions will be focusing on manuscript development, peer review, author self-promotion, and open science.
Manuscript Writing and Publishing
Manuscript writing can be a challenge! This session will teach the best tips for preparation and submission of your manuscript.
It’s Time to Publish My Work! Where Do I Start?
In this session, attendees will find answers to some common questions. What is a predatory journal? What should I consider when picking a journal? What is the proper attribution of work? Pre-publication, what does that mean? What are my licensing options? Additionally, tips for collaborating with your adviser and funding opportunities will be addressed.
Peer Review Training Workshop
Pre-registration is required for this multi-hour peer review workshop that will help attendees understand how to conduct a peer review for a journal. What does a good review look like? What questions should I ask the author? Where are some additional resources for reviewers? After the overview of the process is presented, small groups lead by an experienced researcher will conduct a hands-on model review. The session will also highlight the benefits of peer review to the individual and scientific community.
