Passmore in 1910. USDA, Pomological Watercolor Collection, Rare and Special Collections, National Agricultural Library, Beltsville. All too often, art and science are treated as two separate domains, yet their overlap can be profound, positively interactive, and full of potential. The upcoming ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Annual Meeting will feature the Societies’ most ambitious science and art activities ever and will include an art exhibition and inter-divisional symposium as well as many activities throughout the meeting.Plan to spend time in the exhibit hall gallery, talking with the “artists in residence,” viewing plant- and soil-based art, soil-painting on a community canvas, and volunteering to help read Virgil’s great poem to agriculture and the earth, The Georgics. This ASA, CSSA, and SSSA project is led by Clay Robinson, Kirsten Kurtz, Dan Richter, and Seth Murray and includes other member volunteers.Learn more at acsmeetings.org in the preliminary program.
