Agronomy Journal

Silvia Pampana has been appointed as Editor of Agronomy Journal (AJ). Pampana, who works at the Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment (DAFE), Università di Pisa, Italy, focuses her research on environmental science, plant fertilization, abiotic stress, and soil science. She has served on various journal editorial boards over the years, including as an AJ Associate Editor since 2017. She was also named 2018 AJ Outstanding Associate Editor.

Founded in 1908, Agronomy Journal serves as ASA’s flagship journal. Articles include original research in agriculture, natural resources, soil and crop science, agroclimatology, agronomic modeling, production agriculture, and instrumentation. The journal has significantly grown in recent years and has increased in international authorship as well.

Most recently, AJ has been focusing on partnering with groups to develop special sections related to agronomy as well as with ASA, CSSA, and SSSA journals on a virtual issue regarding COVID-19’s effect on agriculture. Some of the goals Pampana will focus on during her term include raising awareness of the leadership position that agronomy holds within science in the search for sustainability and nurturing a multidisciplinary approach to agronomic research

The Plant Phenome Journal

Michael Gore has recently been appointed as the next Editor of The Plant Phenome Journal (TPPJ). Gore is a professor of molecular breeding and genetics for nutritional quality, Chair of the Plant Breeding and Genetics Section, Liberty Hyde Bailey professor, and international professor of plant breeding and genetics at Cornell University. His research interests include quantitative genetics and genomics, high-throughput phenotyping, and nutritional genomics. He is one of the founding members of the TPPJ Editorial Board, serving as a Technical Editor with the journal since 2017.

First published in 2018, The Plant Phenome Journal is a continuous-publication, transdisciplinary, gold open access journal that focuses on original research, interpretations, and datasets investigating all aspects of plant phenomics, including engineering, remote sensing, computer or data science with plant science, breeding, genetics, and agronomy. It is published by ASA and CSSA.

Since its inception, TPPJ’s board has been dedicated to reducing peer-review times, increasing visibility and social media presence, and promoting publishing and communication practices that support diversity and inclusion. During his term as Editor, Gore plans to focus on advocating for making data FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable), promoting publishing source code in repositories, and increasing diversity among board members.
