Lynn Named Restorationist of the Year
Lorene Lynn has been named Restorationist of the Year by the Society for Ecological Restoration Northwest for her ecological restoration work on the Heritage Tundra Garden (Utqiagvik, AK), the North Slope of Alaska, and in Southcentral Alaska. The Heritage Tundra Garden was built over four years and was a community-based effort. Lynn designed and built a collection of more than 50 wild tundra plants with an emphasis on traditional subsistence edible species.
Trimarco Receives Outstanding Senior Award
Tad Trimarco, a senior at Colorado State University, received the Warren “Red” Leonard Award for an outstanding senior in agronomy for his academic performance and leadership. He is president of Agronomy Club and a residential adviser. He has also participated in the USDA Research and Extension Experiential Learning for Undergraduate (REEU) Fellowships Agroecology and Sustainability Program, designing and conducting his own research on rhizosphere soil microbiology, among many other projects and programs. Trimarco will begin a master's program this summer under Dr. Jim Ippolito, focusing on the connection between soil health and water quality.
