Navigating the Grad School Adventure

Pursuing a graduate degree is a big commitment. To succeed, students must overcome a myriad of challenges, especially during the beginning of their graduate school careers. In light of these challenges and the opportunities graduate school offers, the ACS Graduate Student Committee is pleased to present a webinar series: “Navigating the Grad School Adventure.” You are invited to attend monthly webinars this fall semester to learn about navigating and succeeding during graduate school.

The series kicked off on 12 August with guest speakers Alex Rosa (University of Nebraska–Lincoln) and Rachelle LaCroix (Cornell University) sharing student perspectives and honest tips in a presentation titled, “Getting Started in Grad School—What You Need to Know.” On 16 September (12–1 pm CST), Dr. Ignacio Ciampitti (Kansas State University) will be speaking on “An Introduction to Research Planning.” On 12 October (12–1 pm CST), Dr. Amanda Ramcharan (Bayer Crop Science) and Dr. Laila Puntel (University of Nebraska–Lincoln) will discuss “Whether to Pursue a Ph.D.” On 16 November (12–1 pm CST), Vinicius Perin (North Carolina State University) and Dr. Sarah Taylor-Lovell (University of Missouri) will discuss “Balancing Work and Education with Family and/or Various Interests.” To conclude the semester series, December's topic will focus on “Internship Experiences in Grad School” on 9 December (12–1 pm CST) with speaker announcements coming soon.
