We are pleased to announce the recent appointment or reappointment of three journal Editors. Starting 1 Jan. 2021, each Editor will serve a three-year term. We extend a warm welcome and look forward to their leadership in the coming years.

Crop Science: Paul Scott

Dr. Scott is a research geneticist with USDA and 10+ year member of CSSA and ASA.

“I’m honored to serve as Editor of Crop Science. Publishing high quality research results is an important activity of scientific societies, and this is a great opportunity to engage in the process. Scientific publishing has undergone some big changes in recent years. It will be important to react to these changes while maintaining a clear focus on quality and accessibility of the journal. I’ve been active in the editorial activities of the C-9 division (Biomedical, Health Beneficial, and Nutritionally Enhanced Plants) since its beginning. This experience has made it clear to me the tremendous impact a quality editorial board can have. I look forward to working with the Crop Science team to build on the tradition of excellence attained by the journal.”

The Plant Genome: Henry Nguyen

Dr. Nguyen is a Curator's Distinguished Professor in the Division of Plant Sciences at the University of Missouri and a 40+ year member of CSSA and ASA.

“I am honored and inspired to take on a new role as Editor of The Plant Genome. I was involved in the development of this journal as former chair of C-7 division (Genomics, Molecular Genetics, and Biotechnology) and have served on the editorial board for several years. It has been gratifying to see the success and growth of The Plant Genome, and I look forward to working with CSSA members and the editorial board to expand its global impact. Being associated with the Wiley publishing group, we have a new opportunity to take The Plant Genome to the next level among Wiley's highly recognized plant-related journals such as Plant Biotechnology and The Plant Journal.”

Agrosystems, Geosciences & Environment: Jerry Hatfield

Dr. Hatfield is retired director of the U.S. National Soil Tilth Lab and longtime member of ASA, CSSA, and SSSA.

“It has been my privilege to be the first Editor of Agrosystems, Geosciences, & Environment. This journal was founded to create a publication outlet for quality research that reports negative results, limited studies over time or geography, and confirmed previous research results. This fall, we are soliciting papers for a special issue on innovative cropping systems to enhance soil health and climate resilience to continue to bring a variety of research results to the agricultural community. The journal has attracted a wide range of papers, and it has been a pleasure to see it grow and fulfill its mission. I look forward to another term to continue to expand the impact of Agrosystems, Geosciences & Environment in the agricultural arena. I have served the Societies for 40 years in many different capacities, and this is one way I can continue to serve our members and the agricultural community to promote science with an impact.”
