Demo Den: Ready-to-go activities for K-12 audiences and beyond!

How do you explain and demonstrate hydrophobicity? With all the wildfires, many teachers have heard about it and want to know why it is important or how they can communicate it to their class. Learn about this and more at the Demo Den in the exhibit hall during this year’s CANVAS meeting.

The Demo Den is a hybrid session in the exhibit hall during CANVAS that will include posters detailing proven demonstrations and activities that can be taken to schools, agriculture days, producer groups, and urban audiences to demonstrate important soil, agronomy, and crop science concepts. Often these activities have been adapted from demonstrations and labs used in university courses. The highlight of the session will be 16 actual demonstrations on Monday, November 2 from 4 pm to 6 pm when the poster authors are present. Local K-12 teachers are invited to attend.

The session is sponsored by the SSSA K-12 Outreach Committee, SSSA Education and Outreach Division, and ASA Education and Extension Section.
