HHS, EPA announce partnership for glyphosate review

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced a new interagency Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen scientific coordination and expand the evidence available to EPA’s ongoing registration review of the chemical herbicide, glyphosate. Under the MOU, the agencies will establish a joint technical working group that brings together experts from EPA and HHS that will identify priority scientific questions, coordinate research and information-sharing, and align its work with EPA’s registration review schedule.

This new agreement is in alignment with EPA's glyphosate reevaluation, which is currently underway and expected to be completed in early 2027. Recently, EPA released for public comment a comprehensive open-literature search that will help inform the updated human health risk assessment.
