On May 22, 2025, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a budget reconciliation bill, which now heads to the U.S. Senate where its future is uncertain. What’s contained so far that may impact the Societies and its members:

  1. $37 million allocated for the Foundation for Food & Agriculture Research (FFAR)

  2. $1.25 billion allocated for land grant universities’ research infrastructure improvements

We’ll provide updates on the bill as it moves through the Sentate. As well, a USDA reorganization plan is pending and should be announced soon. We’ll provide an update once we have more details.

Do you have NIFA grants that are suspended/frozen?

If you have a NIFA grant that has been suspended/frozen, please let us know (you can remain anonymous). USDA staff are seeking information about the grants that will potentially unfreeze them. There needs to be economic impact data specifically at the farm level. We can work with you to develop that information.
