Calculating Seeding Rates | CCA Essentials

How can you use the seed label to determine how many seeds per acre are required to get the desired stand? First, calculate the pure live seed. From there, you can calculate the seeding rate.

This month, we introduce "CCA Essentials," a video series for people preparing for the International CCA exam and others who want to brush up on the skills needed as a Certified Crop Adviser.

In our first video, Dr. Alex Lindsey of The Ohio State University walks through a number of examples to show you how to calculate seeding rate using information found on the seed label.

This video corresponds to the Crop Management Performance Objective: Use purity, germination, hard seed, and seed size information to calculate a seeding rate.
