The Women in Agronomy, Crops, Soils, and Environmental Science Committee is dedicated to:

  • Promoting the status of women in the three Societies
  • Encouraging women to achieve professional excellence
  • Establishing networks of women in the agronomic, crops, soils, and environmental sciences
  • Sponsoring meetings to address issues of special concerns to professional women in our sciences
  • Fostering the informal exchange of information and contacts in support of professional activities of women

Women in Science ... In Their Own Words!

The goal of the Women in Science Committee is to support women scientists in effectively leading progress in the agronomy, crop, soil and environmental sciences, recognizing their contributions, and supporting the continued strength and growth of women in our sciences. We recently filmed 25 members, asking them a series of questions designed to showcase their achievements and capture their thoughts about their chosen career. We are inspired and hope you are as well with the important role of women in our sciences!

Cultivating Resiliency ... the 2025 CANVAS Meeting Women in Science Workshop

The 2025 ASA, CSSA, and SSSA Women in Science Committee Workshop theme is "Cultivating Resiliency." The journey of a scientist, whether in academia, industry, or extension work, is often marked by high expectations, demanding workloads, and the pressure to secure funding, publish research, and navigate career transitions. For women in our sciences, these challenges are further compounded by the realities of fieldwork, workplace dynamics, and balancing professional and personal responsibilities. Cultivating Resiliency is about recognizing these pressures and equipping women with the tools to navigate setbacks, manage stress, and build sustainable careers in science. This session will explore strategies for developing mental resilience, fostering supportive networks, and maintaining motivation in the face of obstacles. Immediately after the workshop, the committee will host a meet and greet social for all attendees.  A special thank you to the Agronomic Science Foundation and the IDEAS Fund for their financial support to defray the registration costs for attendees!
